Presidents Message.

Dear Members,

I can't believe what an exciting year we had these past 12 months.  Believe it or not, these next 12 are going to be equally as thrilling; we've got so much going on.   Here's a quick summary of what we've got on our calendars already:

For our January dinner meeting, we're tentatively scheduled to be touring the Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma.

We're hosting a Membrane Filtration Specialty conference 2/4 in Fairfield

We've got a Math Anxiety Workshop in Vacaville 3/5

   There's the  P3S Conference in Monterey 3/2-3/4

Of course, the Annual Conference in Palm Springs 4/28-5/1

And how could we forget the joint Redwood/SF Bay section picnic/tailgate/A's baseball game July 18th.

In addition, I've already gotten a lot of questions about the TCP study sessions we usually host in January. Due to the introduction of computer based testing, all the local sections throughout the state have had to alter the way we offer this training.  Your board is currently working with the other three sections in the greater Bay Area to develop a system where each of our four sections hosts one TCP study session a year, spreading them out over the calendar year so that there's always a study session around the time you're preparing to take an exam.  Right now, we're shooting for having our session in late April.

We had close to a record turnout at the awards dinner this year and I can't tell you how happy it made me to see so many folks coming out to support their wastewater brethren.   I hope we can carry this level of support, encouragement and dedication into 2009.  My congratulations goes out again to all the award winners and I know we all wish them the best of luck at the state level.

While I've got your attention, I thought I might take this opportunity to let all of you out there who are thinking you kind of, sort of, maybe would like to volunteer some of your time to help our fine organization do what we do, we are always looking for more opinions, ideas and warm bodies.  Any amount of time you're willing to offer would graciously be accepted by CWEA's state and local committees.  If interested, contact any of us board members and we can get you connected with the right people.

Lastly, I hope I can serve you all well as your president and I really welcome any and all suggestions or ideas you've got.

May 2009 bring us all success and happiness,

Devina Douglas, Redwood Empire Section President
