What You Need to Know About Computer-Based Testing

How to Become Certified in Your Wastewater Vocation
To become certified, you must qualify with the required education and experience and then pass a written test. Tests are given on the fourth Saturday in January and July. You must apply 3 months before the test date. CWEA offers candidate handbooks, study guides, and study sessions to help you pass your exam. Information For Current Certificate Holders
Make sure you don't lose your certification. Certificate holders are required to renew every year and re-certify, by completing at least 12 hours of training, every two years.
Plant Maintenance Grade IV Split into Electrical/Instrumentation Grade IV and Mechanical Technologist Grade IV
Beginning January 2007 the single management level Plant Maintenance Grade IV will be replaced by two separate specialty certifications: Mechanical Technologist Grade IV and Electrical/Instrumentation Grade IV.
Code of Ethics
The certification Code of Ethics has been revised. Those renewing January and July 2006 do not need to sign the Code to renew.  
Certification Examiner Newsletter
The Certification Examiner is a newsletter for CWEA certificate holders, applicants, and employers. Quarterly issues feature the latest certification news and announcements, training and contact hours info, test taking tips. Issues are either emailed or mailed to all certificate holders and applicants.
Lost Your Certificate or Need a Duplicate?
For a small fee you can receive a duplicate copy of your current certificate. Just click on the link for the form.
Wastewater trainers & educators
Add value to your training and educational events by offering contact hours that can be used by CWEA certificate holders to satisfy their recertification requirement.
Training Programs Pre-Approved for Continuing Education Requirement
Find all training programs that have been pre-approved for continuing education. If it's on the list for your vocation, then you can use the course to meet the continuing education requirement.
